WS 2017_Urban Gallery_Var 1

The infrastructural layer of todays cities has a very rigid structure, which cannot adapt fast enough to the changing conditions driven by Big Data and Climate Change. Berlin in particular is also facing a population increase in the near future, that needs to be supported by its infrastructure- both visible and invisible, physical and digital. In this course you will develop narratives for change by creating small ‚codes’ for new forms of micro infrastructures (artefacts/prototypes). The codes are based on algorithmic thinking that render things adaptable and responsive not only to site conditions but to its citizens as well. You will be testing new grounds for urban design supported by a game like environment and a data base called the Urban Gallery.
